Town Juniors U16s .....1

Lower Maze ............... 1

TOWN Juniors Under-16s travelled to Lower Maze on Saturday morning and Lower Maze settled straight away on their home turf.

The rock solid Jake Laffin at the heart of the Juniors defence firmly kept the door shut.

With the Juniors finally settling they started to influence the tempo of the play.

Ryan Angus and Jordan Walker were feeding an attacking trio of Alex Donnelly, Jonny Rodgers and Sam McAllister.

The Juniors had the better of the chances, with Sam McAllister chipping the keeper only to see the ball land the wrong side of the post, along with Liam Farrell hitting the frame of the goal.

The two teams went in at half time with the score remaining 0-0.

The second half began with no quarter being asked, and no quarter being given, an already feisty match was beginning to heat up.

Maze got the break of the ball and with their striker through on goal, Juniors keeper Conor Ward produced an excellent point blank save to rally his troops.

The Juniors unable to clear their lines, resulted in some heavy pressure coming from Maze.

Keeper Conor Ward produced some excellent saves to deny them.

Maze did find a break through on 25 minutes when the ball deflected through and their striker prodded it home.

The Juniors had to regroup and with time against them, they won a free kick on the half way line on 30 minutes.

Captain Jake Laffin unleashed a thunderous strike which the keeper couldnt hold, allowing winger Jake Dennison to nip in and earn the Juniors a well deserved point.

This week’s man of the match was keeper Conor Ward for an commanding performance at the back.
