After much deliberation, Moneyslane FC have announced the squad who will play against Manchester United on Saturday 2 August at Jubilee Park.

It’s made up of past and present Slane players, including new signing Darragh Peden, and was announced after the club’s pre-season friendly against Coagh United on Saturday.

The club committee recognised that there would be enormous interest in representing Moneyslane and that the team would be oversubscribed.

To ensure the fairest outcome, a sub-committee was set up that was a reflection of the entire club involving managers, players and supporters. On the committee were David Johnstone, Gareth Bingham, Gareth McDowell, Gary Anderson and Nigel Hanna.

They used several criteria, having consideration for the older legs in the United Legends side and this is the Moneyslane FC Select team that will take to the field on 2 August:

GoalKeepers: Ivon Blevins, Nigel Fry.

Outfield: Gareth Binhgam, John Davenport, John Whitten, William Thompson, David Cromie, Neil Bingham, Mark Ervine, David Johnstone, Mark Anderson, Allen English, Jason Fairley, Nigel Hanna, Mark Jardine, Gary Hanna, Iain Anderson, Gareth Hamilton, Robbie Weir, Andrew Rowan, Gareth Mcdowell, Andrew Boyd, Renick Malcomson, Mark Mcully. Darragh Peden.
