Assistant Manager Darragh Peden was delighted to see his Slane side prepare for a top two clash in the best possible manner.

First placed Slane take on Windmill Stars away on Wednesday evening (kick-off 8pm) in what could prove a title-deciding match.

Both sides have won all but one of their league games so far this term but something’s got to give.

Slane go into the tie in top form, fresh from celebrating their semi win.

“It’s a fantastic achievement from the lads and it sets us up nicely for what promises to be a cracker on Wednesday,” said a delighted Peden.

“It has been difficult in the last two games with our manager David Johnstone out of the country on business but all credit to the players.

“They dominated the early stages and we should probably have been a couple up at the break. Tullyvallen scored just before the break and suddenly it was very much game on.

“But the guys reacted in the second half, similar to the game against Lurgan Town.”
