Historical society to meet again

The event will take place on Thursday 5th May in the Old Town Hall, Banbridge, at 7.30pm.

The Rev McMillan is the minister of the Non-subscribing Presbyterian Church in Dunmurry, His father was such a keen gardener he wouldn’t allow anyone to pick his precious flowers!

Mac, as the Rev McMillan is called, caught the bug, but in a different way. He is fascinated by flowers and gardening history. Unlike his father, he loves flower arranging!

His enthusiasm for flower arranging was such that when saw a flower festival in a church in Castlerock he was inspired to organise similar festivals.

He has travelled the world flower arranging having been invited to Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, America, Jamaica, Thailand and most of Europe.

Non-members are charged £3 for the evening’s entertainment, which includes light refreshments.

The society’s annual outing will take place on Thursday 2nd June. A coach will leave from the road along Banbridge Leisure Centre at 9.30am sharp. Cars may be left in the Centre’s car park.

The coach will drive to Lissan House, Cooktown, where tea, coffee and scones will be served in the ballroom. After a guided tour of the house, the coach will drop passengers off to spend time in Cookstown.

At 2.30pm the coach will leave for Killymoon Castle. Afterwards it will go to nearby Killymoon Golf Club where a three course meal will be served.

It will return to Banbridge at 7.30pm. The cost of the trip is £30 per head.
