Nashville singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, author and five-string banjo virtuoso, ‘Mean Mary’ James has agreed to play a special concert in Poyntzpass as part of her UK tour on April 16.
Mean Mary’s unique blend of bluegrass, country and contemporary Americana inspired Poyntzpass-based vet Lara Wilson, a keen fiddler, to invite her to play in Poyntzpass.
Lara said: “When I heard that Mean Mary intended to play in Northern Ireland, I contacted her and was delighted when she agreed to play this special concert in Poyntzpass.”
Mean Mary commented: “I’m really excited, and intend to see as much of Ireland as I can, north and south.”
She is especially looking forward to visiting her ancestral home in Donegal Town and to re-discovering her roots.
Mean Mary is playing the Meeting Place, Church Street Poyntzpass on April 16. Doors open at 7:30pm.
