Groups sharing in lottery jackpot

Recipients in the district include the LLT Women’s Group servicing Laurencetown, Lenaderg and Tullylish; Dromore and District Beekeepers’ Association and St Mary’s Primary School, Dechomet.

The Southern Area Hospice, which provides care and support to people throughout the Southern Health Board area who are suffering from cancer, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease and other life limiting illnesses, is also a beneficiary.

The women’s group has been awarded £5,460 to help celebrate its 10th anniversary through a series of activities, including a celebratory meal, outings, dance classes and a fashion workshop.

Dromore beekeepers have benefited to the tune of £6,112 and the association intends to use the grant to develop a new project with Dromore High School.

Meanwhile, St Mary’s Primary School will use its award of £10,000 to install a new adventure playground for use by pupils to improve health and fitness.

The top amount of £10,000 was also awarded to Southern Area Hospice for development of a consultation project with service users and statutory agencies, with the aim of streamlining services.

Awards for All offers community, voluntary and statutory groups the chance to apply for small grants - of between £500 and £10,000 - which will have a significant impact on local communities and the lives of people most in need.
