Youth fall at firsthurdle in cup

Banbridge Youth 0

Ballymoney 8

BANBRIDGE Youth travelled to Ballymoney in the first round of the NIBFA Cup.

The match started brightly with both teams competing on all areas of the pitch. The Banbridge boys haven’t had a match in four weeks and a little slip up in midfield allowed Ballymoney to get the opener.

The lads continued to battle well but it was really going to be a struggle as the opposition seemed to deal better with the heavy pitch conditions.

In the second half the boys started much better with Matthew Burns making a number of first class tackles keeping the opposition at bay.

Russell Hilland started the second half in goals with Dean McIlveena moving into defence. Tactically this made a huge difference with Dean making a number of great clearances and Russell closing down all runs into the box.

Bradley Harper was very unlucky not to score after a great through ball from Daniel Moore. The mighty Ryan Adamson was also in great form and made a number of great tackles in midfield, and continually worked back supporting his mates in defence.

Man of the match was captain Matthew Burns who was absolutely fantastic in defence and didn’t stop running from start to finish
