Will Wilkie ever be stopped?

West Down Wheelers held the toughest TT on their club race programme last Tuesday night.

Starting on the Rathfriland Road in Loughbrickland, the 20 riders headed to Rathfriland onto Banbridge Road and back to Banbridge to the finish line on the Bridge over the Carriageway at the Creamery a total of 17 miles.

Paul (Wilkie) was once again the fastest rider with a 40, a very good time but he has been a lot quicker on this course.

In second place was a rider improving with every race, Dave Frizzel. His time of 41 was four or five minutes quicker than last year’s time.

In third was Brandon Douglas with a 42, another very good time under his belt.

Big Clydie was next not the ideal course for him but a very good time.

Some guest riders who deserve a mention were D. McKnight with a 40 but the fastest rider on the night was Lindsay Watson from Plush CC with a 39, on a road bike.

On Thursday night three riders from West Down Wheelers took part in another 10 mile TT on the Castlewellan Road.

Best of the three was a rider who has made quite an impact since he started to race, Thomas Niblock’s time of 24 dead was absolutely superb in only his 3rd ever TT.

Thomas says even though he’s just joined the Wheelers he knows he made the right choice.

John Clyde recorded another 24, so a good night for him. Allister had a 26 but he will always want to go faster and should when he gets his position sorted out.

This week’s Race is another 10 mile TT on the Castlewellan Road. First rider off at 7pm should see another good turnout. The start/finish line has been changed and marked.
