Up for the Challenge at Kilrea Manor

Golf

THE Annual Challenge Match between The Brown Trout Club and The Manor G.C. was played at Kilrea Manor recently.

Twelve players from each club played six 4 ball better ball matches, handicaps based on 3/4 of the difference of the lowest handicap in the respective matches.

The result was the closest of finishes imaginable.

With the final two matches still out on the course the visitors were leading three matches to one and The Manor had to win both to draw, and then hope to have a chance of winning on the holes up.

The last two pairs each eventually won their matches on the last hole, making the score three all, and The Manor came out victorious by virtue of nine holes to eight up.

The competition was played in the best of weather and friendly rivalry, and the course was in great condition after the previous heavy rainfall thanks to the ground staff.

Congratulations to both teams for competing so well and making it a real nail biter.

Afterwards a very excellent lunch was enjoyed in the Restaurant where the Trophy was handed over to the joint Captains of the Manor Team, Seamus Hasson and Marshall Eakin, by the President of the Brown Trout Club, having won it the previous year on their home course.
