U13s go head to head with Armagh

Dromore had just found there legs when a errant pass didn’t go to hand and the large Armagh second rows pounced on the mistake swift hands from these boys lead to a quick unconverted try.

Dromore rallied after this and filtered the ball along the backs at every opportunity letting the Dromore winger Robin Cantley into score what seemed a certain try except for a last ditch flying tackle from the Armagh centre.

The game ebbed and flowed for the rest of the first half neither side giving an inch when they retained the ball and the score remained 5-0 to the home team.

After the restart some quick thinking from Mathew Pepper opened up the Armagh forwards from a line out which saw the ball bass along the hands of the three quarter line Ben Heath Ross Smyth and Nathan Fitzsimmons all playing their part in keeping the ball alive until it was disrupted by the large Armagh pack.

With only minutes remaining Dromore’s luck went against them and gave away a soft try which was converted. Catching the ball from the restart man of the match Ben Heath passed the ball to the ever present David Lyttle who nipped past three defenders before off loading the ball in a crunching tackle to Andrew McKinstry who’s soft hands found the rampaging Cameron Shakesby bursting over the gain line and scoring under the posts which was converted by Mathew Pepper.

The new backs coach Freddie Luke and forwards coaches Mark Smyth and Clair Kidd have to be very proud of their young team a great game of rugby at Armagh well done boys.

However on a sour note your roving reporter was a little concerned when the Dromore Youth Convenor Nigel Dale insisted this great team did 20 press ups after the game for some side line misdemeanour that I never saw and I miss nothing! I hope he has a good reason for this post game tactic back at the club.
