U13s bow out of cup

RATHFRILAND U13s played National side Carniny Youth in the second round of the NIBFA cup on Saturday at the Ballymena Showgrounds .

Rathfriland started the game brightly with Ryan Sloane and Mark Graham working hard in the middle with Dylan O’Hare and Pearse McPolin putting the Carniny defence under some pressure.

Out on the wings Patrick Winters and Ryan Byrne were seeing a lot of the ball but Carniny opened the scoring early on with the defence of Jamie Fitzpatrick, Ciaran McElroy, Mark Buller and John Dickson feeling the pressure with Krystian Celmierowski pulling off some great saves but could do nothing about the three goals scored in the first half.

Second half Rathfriland still worked tirelessly with Kaia Lynch, Joshua Ingram, Lorcan Sloan and Adam Bronte all coming on. These young lads all gave a good account of themselves with the only difference between the two sides being the quality of the passing and the clinical finishing in front of goal.

With Carniny playing in the National league with the likes of Linfield, Glentoran and many other Premier clubs the 5-0 scoreline was nothing to be ashamed of. The lads performed very well and showed great promise for the future of a up and coming team.

TEAM Krystian Celmierowski, Jamie Fitzpatrick, Ciaran McElroy, Mark Buller, John Dickson, Ryan Byrne, Mark Graham, Ryan Sloane, Patrick Winters, Dylan O’Hare, Kaia Lynch, Lorcan Sloan, Joshua Ingram and Adam Bronte.
