U12s bag a dozen at Craigavon

Craigavon City U12s 0

Banbridge Town U12s 12

TOWN U12s travelled to a rain sodden Lurgan Park on Saturday to play Craigavon City.

With the town only able to field 11 fit players this looked to be a big test of the young boys' character.

From the first whistle the determination of the boys shone through and within the first minute Owen Byrne found the back of the Craigavon net to score his first goal for the club.

This was the start that the town boys needed and on the fourth minute Jake Dennison had a shot parried out by the keeper which Morgan Gallagher quickly reacted to and made it 2-0.

With Banbridge now finally finding their stride for the rest of the season, Owen Byrne latched onto a fine through ball from Josh Dennison to make it 3-0 on 15 minutes.

Banbridge continued to pile on the pressure and Jake Dermott latched on to a superb through ball to chip the keeper and make it 4-0 at half time.

The locals came out in the second half in the same dominating style as in the first half. Five minutes in Jake Dennison took on several defenders and then made no mistake one on one with the keeper and made it 5-0.

With the town now controlling the match, new signing Owen Byrne completed his well deserved hat-trick. This was quickly followed by Jake Dennison latching on to a fine cross from Jake Dermott and burying the ball into the top corner of the net to score his second and the Town's seventh.

Adam Dickson was moved into the midfield and made an immediate impact with a fine solo run from his own 18 yard line in order to then unselfishly slot in Morgan Gallagher to score his second goal of the game.

In the 22nd minute of the second half the ball fell to the feet of Owen Byrne in the box and he made no mistake in finding the back of the net, scoring his fourth goal of the game.

With four minutes to play the hard working Banbridge captain Steven Campbell scored a super 20 yard lob leaving the Craigavon keeper with no chance.

A minute later Jake Dennison made a super run up the right wing to come inside and bang the ball into the top corner of the net to secure his hat-trick and the team’s 11th goal.

On the final whistle, not to be outdone, Morgan Gallagher found the back of the net from a free kick to complete his own hat-trick and round off the scoring and leave the final score at 12-0.

This week's man of the match was Owen Byrne for a fine goal scoring display.
