MONEYSLANE U11s played last Thursday night in the Carnbane League and the wee men took on Midway in a pulsating game where there were goals galore in a tense game.

Midway took the lead early on with a well worked shot flying past stand in keeper Michael Clydesdale.

Slane soon gathered their composure and got back into the game, Joshua Crawford and Jordan Davis combined with slick passing between them and the latter, Davis floated a great pass and Crawford hit a first time shot that flew into the net past the keeper.

They continued the dominate applying pressure with shots whizzing pass the post and most notably from a corner when Crawford found Josh Johnston outside the box and the resulting shot sailed just over the bar.

Slane finally took the lead when Steven Moorhead found Crawford in acres of space and he calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net for his second of the game.

Midway then pulled it back to two each with a perfect defense splitting ball and the resulting shot give Clydesdale no chance in the Slane net

As the second half got under way Midway caught the Slane napping and scored their third to put them in front and they soon added another to their tally when an effort from outside the box took a deflection past the Slane keeper.

Slane got back into the game when a kick out from Clydesdale was headed on by Moorhead. Crawford beat the offside and trap and raced forward and he crossed it in for Davis to cleverly flick it past the Midway keeper.

Both sides had chances to score but when Ethan Banks found Moorhead and his low drive found the back off the net and finally he got his goal his man of the match performance deserved

Both teams had plenty more chance with Davis having the best when his shot hit the post.

Overall a draw was a fair result as both teams played very well and with Slane missing three big players it was a very encouraging effort for those who stepped in, Robyn Hanna, Andréa Stevenson and Laura Adams were brilliant as they slotted onto the team perfectly.

Player of the match was Steven Moorhead
