Their first match was against a strong Hillsborough Boys team who play in the Lisburn league. The local lads went about the game in a professional manner with excellent defensive work from Alexander Fitzsimmons and Leon Shimmons combined with good goalkeeping from young Jack Maginn ensured the game finished goalless.

Game two for the Colts was against the hosts who have met a few times in the IFA games development centre in Newry. This was another close encounter with Jack Maginn and Danielle Megaw both denied by the impressive home keeper. Alex McKee in nets for the Rathfriland pulled off an excellent triple save to deny the Annalong forward before Adam Cromie in midfield linked well with Chambers and when the ball fell at Matthew Cromie’s he was denied by the defender.

Going into their third and final game the Colts knew that any win against Banbridge Rangers would put them through as all games in group D had finished as draws.

Some clever footwork from Chambers saw him get away from his marker and he played a neat pass into the quick Reece Allister. Reece skipped past a few Banbridge players, played a quick one, two with Coalán Teer before two defenders clashed with the ball breaking kindly to Teer who made no mistake as he hit his shot past the keeper.

In the semi final the Colts found themselves up against the historically strong lads from Warrenpoint Town. For the fourth game in a row, a lost toss meant the Colts had to play into the wind and rain and despite a gutsy team effort could not find a way past the Town team and bowed out 2 – 0 with the victors going on to lift the trophy.
