U10s end season on a high

Banbridge Town U10s 4

Sirocco Youth 2

BANBRIDGE Town U10s took on Sirocco Youth in the final game of the season on Saturday.

Having already secured the Shield last week it would have been easy for some complacency to set in but the Banbridge players treated the game like there was all to play for.

From the start they looked to get their passing game going and at times in the first half Sirocco couldn’t live with them.

Banbridge created a lot of chances in the first 10 minutes without any reward; the closest they came was when Redpath hit the post.

Redpath then scored two goals in three minutes. The first goal came after some excellent play involving Wilson, McCavitt and Winters with the latter playing a through ball to Redpath to score.

The second came after a great pass from Woods that found the young striker unmarked in the box, he was able to pick his spot and place the ball past the keeper to make it 2-0.

With Banbridge still celebrating Sirocco pulled one back. A long, hopeful ball bypassed the Banbridge defence and left Hunter with no chance.

Banbridge were still passing the ball well and it was no surprise when they restored their two goal advantage. This time Redpath was the provider, after some good build up play he found himself on the by line, he squared the ball to Winters who finished with style scoring his first of the season and leaving the score 3-1 at half time.

Banbridge were starting to tire in the second half and Sirocco who still had hopes of finishing second were pushing hard. A Sirocco player raced into the box and forced a great save out of Hunter from close range, the rebound fell kindly to a sirocco player who scored to make it 3-2.

The game was finely poised going into the last 10 minutes and Woods, Wilson, Scott and Redpath all came close before McCavitt scored with a fine header from a corner to make the final score 4-2.

Man of the match was Annett.
