The hosts started strongly with two Chris McGovern points in the first five minutes and when Peter Quinn goaled three minutes later things looked ominous for the visitors even at that early stage. A Davey Corbett point extended Tullylish’s lead at the end of the first quarter before Kevin Sloan got Kilclief off the mark with two pointed frees.

Points from Philip O’Neill, John McAreavey, Joe McDermott and Shannon Drainey kept the scoreboard ticking over. McAreavey then struck for Tullylish’s second goal five minutes from half-time and two late McGovern points gave the home team a comfortable lead of 2-9 to 0-2 at the break.

Tullylish got the first score of the second half two minutes later with a McGovern point. After a scoreless 10 minutes Quinn and Sloan traded points from placed balls before young Conor Magee lit up a dull second half with a magnificently finished goal in the 21st minute.

To their credit Kilclief never gave up and were rewarded with another Sloan point in the 24th minute. The visitors had further opportunities to add to their tally but were denied by some superb defending from Conor McManus, Barry Priestley, Davy Byrne and the hard working Paddy McKiverigan. Late points from McAreavey and McGovern concluded the scoring.
