Trudie wins at Bluegrass

Lisburn girl Trudie McCoosh, a pupil at Victoria College, Belfast, produced an exhibition jump off round to win and clinch the Ulster Bluegrass Spring Tour series in style at the Meadows Equestrian centre on Sunday.

Twelve year old Trudie was competing in the 128cm 1.05 class.

The competition consisted of eight rounds in both Northern and Southern Ireland over six weeks with the top five scores to count.

Trudie competed in five of the first seven rounds with two wins, two thirds and a fifteenth place finish leaving her five points off the lead.

At Meadows there were twenty starters. Trudie’s nearest competitor jumped clear in the first round, Trudie matched this along with four others.

When the draw was made for the jump off, Trudie was drawn fifth to go with her rival Natasha, third, she produced a clear round in 39.22 seconds.

To win the Bluegrass Trudie had to go faster clear, she was the only rider to cut inside to the double and again to the penultimate fence producing a stunning time of 35.78 seconds winning by over three seconds.

Trudie also placed sixth overall in the 148 1.25 class and seventh in the 138 1.15 class to round off a very successful weekend.
