TOWN LOOKING AT PLAYERS

BANBRIDGE Town boss Colin Malone is ready to delve into the transfer market - but has admitted that there will be no new arrivals at Crystal Park unless they come for free.

Malone admitted that he was interested in a number of the players recently made available at Glenavon but also said that if players did not come in January he was happy to continue working with his current squad, who have so far worked their way to a cup final and sixth place in the IFA Championship 1 table.

"I am looking at players, there a few players out there who have been made available by their senior clubs and who are looking for games," said Malone.

"But unless they're willing to come for free then I'm not interested.

"The players at Glenavon do interest me but again unless they're willing to come for nothing they won't be coming to us.

"Mark Turkington for example is a very good player but we also have a decent left back. The same goes for Gary Liggett, he's a decent player too but I think he's on his way to Loughgall."

Town have no game scheduled, according to the IFA Championship website, until February 6 when they are due to play Bangor.

They were due to play Larne next weekend but due to last week's WKD Intermediate Cup games being postponed and rescheduled for next Saturday it means the date of the 23rd is now unavailable.

Even the club's training schedule has been hit with the closure of Cheney Park and friendly games against Portadown and Newry City called off.

"The weather has made it very difficult for us," added Malone. "We were due to play the Ports on Thursday night but Cheney was closed and on Sunday morning we were to go to Oriel Park in Dundalk to play Newry as it has a frozen pitch but it too was closed.

"We haven't been able to do anything as the weather has been against us and it's looking like the same again this week.

"Depending on whether or not Portadown's game with Glenavon goes ahead on Tuesday night we are hoping to play the Ports at Cheney on the same evening.

"If not then we are working on using Banbridge Boxing Club or one of the schools to try and do some sort of training," Malone added.

- THE Premier Cup final between Dollingstown and Fivemiletown United, which was called off on the Monday after Christmas due to a waterlogged pitch at Crystal Park, has been rearranged for Saturday April 3 at Crystal Park.
