Title hopes take a dent following Gilford whitewash

GILFORD Inn 0 Anglers Rest 8 - Gilford Inn’s good start to the season took a severe dent when their confidence was knocked by the Anglers in this 8-0 defeat.

It’s not very often an 8-0 defeat crops up in the league, this shows the Anglers will be challenging for the title this season. In typical fashion Bj McAnearney and Mark Cosgrove won two quick opening frames. Gilford heads must have dropped because they went on to lose the rest of the singles and feeling deflated were dominated in two doubles matches as well.

First & Last 2 Bus Bar 6: Another disappointing display from the F & L, carrying on from last season. The Bus Bar had a lot of improving to do after the result last week and done so in stylish fashion!

After going a frame down, J.McCollough kept his good form going to equalise but TB’s reeled off 3 in a row to guarantee their first point of the season.

C. Parrott made it 2 for 2 this season to give the first and last a glimmer of hope but then N.McMorran and J. lyttle insured the points were going to the bus bar followed by the Mulligan Bros inflicting the same result they had suffered the previous week on the F&L!

Railway Inn 5 Bridge Bar B 3: It’s said that Fred Elliott couldn’t have cut the yellow that Damian Paxton pot to secure the first frame, and the stains on Gary Doherty’s shirt from his dinner in the coach did not put him off slotting the black home to go 2-0 up.

The McGivern family name has been somewhat enhanced with the introduction of joseph in the Railway team, he made it 3-0 followed by Danny Murphy showing his elder brother and Captain, Gary how to play pool!

Ricer and Deano made sure they would not be embarrassed by winning both their singles matches and doubles match but the railway pinched it to go top of the table!

O’Reilly’s 2 Imperial 6: O’Reillys got off to a shaky start quickly going 2 nil down thanks to Dean Gordon and Jason Adamson winning for the Imperial.

Bradley Moss and Sean Conlon were having none of it though. They both won to level that match at 2-2.

That must have angered the Imperial because they went on to win the last four matches in a row to secure a 6 2 victory.

Market Bar B 4 Mullhollands B 4: The Dromore Derby was a topsy tervy match which could have went anyway but ended up a hard fought draw.

M. Jardine put Mulholland’s in front but D. Russell equalised right back.

Once again Mulholland’s went ahead with S. Wilson winning but G. Graham equalised for the market. A. Barr and P. Beggs both won to put the market ahead for the first time in the match, But since the introduction of the doubles this season, teams have grew complacent in finishing the job and this proved true again when Mulholland’s won both Doubles matches to earn a draw.

The league table after week two:

Market B 3

Mulholland’s B 3

Anglers Rest 3
