Thompson is on fire for Ladies at Lisnagarvey

THE league campaign continued for Banbridge Ladies Firsts on Saturday when they took on Annadale at Havelock Park.

The Ladies started well, dominating the game and putting the Annadale defence under a lot of pressure.

Within the first 10 minutes, Banbridge produced some good flowing hockey with lovely passing between the midfield and forwards. Abi Thompson showed great skill as she rounded two of Annadale's players at the top of the circle giving herself a little bit of room to get off a quick shot. The ball squuzed neatly into the bottom right of the goal to make the score 1-0.

Banbridge had the ability to score more goals but Annadale's keeper had an outstanding game as she effectively dealt with any of Bann's goal opportunities.

For the rest of the first half and the second half the game contiued to slow. The Banbridge girls tried to do the right thing but struggled to cope as good passes fell by the wayside and goal opportunities were wasted.

The final score was a 1-0 victory to Banbridge Ladies. Although many of the girls were disappointed by the overall team performance, they should remain positive that they remain unbeaten this season.

Big thanks this week go to John Bell for umpiring. Next week the ladies 1st's take on Coleraine at Havelock Park. If you would like to sponsor the match ball please contact the Ladies club for details.
