Thompson double helps Bann get their own back

Bann Ladies 3s got their own back on Saturday, against the only team to beat them this season.

They hosted Derg Vally, who had beaten them 4-0 back in September but the roles were reversed this weekend as Bann won by the same score-line.

Banbridge were able to get a goal up inside the first five minutes thanks to Dani Thompson. Bann continued their strong attack with another goal by the in-form Thompson to put them 2-0 up at half-time. Derg Vally became extremely defensive after this with a few scuffles on the pitch.

Keeping strong going into the second half, Bann were able to keep Derg Vally at bay thanks to great defensive and midfield lines. Derg Vally achieved a few short corners and breaks at goal but they just could not find their way past the Banbridge back line. Bann were able to go 3-0 up with a superb goal by Melissa Whan. They were on fire and were able to top off the win as Jayne Walker finished off Dani Thompson’s cross.

Banbridge’s player of the match was Rachel Groves.
