Thirds beaten at Belmont

BALLYMENA Thirds travelled to Belmont on Saturday but with a weakened side they were on the wrong end of a 45 points to seven scoreline against CIYMS Seconds.

Ballymena did well for 15 minutes but when the home side scored then it opened the floodgates. CIYMS had 25 points on the board but all credit to Ballymena who fought back and scored a try through Ian D'Arcy and converted by Stephen Johnston.

At the start of the second half Ballymena fought hard and kept the opposition at bay but then the floodgates opened and the home side rattled up another 20 points.

A commendable performance by a makeshift team.

Thirds: S Johnston; P Shepherd, R Watson, I D'Arcy, G Bell; S McMaster, E Scullion; R Adair, A Hayes, B McGookin, T Montgomery, J McKinney, L Johnston, P Gregg, J Carmichael.
