Selection for teams in the Mixed League will take place next week so all players are encouraged to attend for practice on Mondays and Thursdays at the club although there is no club play Monday 16 April as the Men host Bangor in their final Match in the Singles League.

The men have had mixed fortunes in their last two fixtures, beating Windsor 3-2 in a very closely contended match.

Matthew Gray and Matthew McClune won in two sets with the latter winning 7-5 in the second set after being down 4-0.

After winning his first set comfortably 6-1, Stephen Smyth had a much closer second set which he lost in a tie break 6-7 but he must have tired out his opponent as he won the third set quite easily 6-1.

Windsor’s fourth and fifth men proved too strong an opposition and beat the Banbridge men, Michael Sands and Charlie Campos in two sets.

Their most recent fixture away to Donaghadee proved to be a very hard fought battle whose 5-0 scoreline did not do the Banbridge team justice.

Donaghadee fielded the number one Under 18 player in Ireland who was just too strong an opponent.

The Banbridge team on this occasion included Matthew Gray, Matthew McClune, Derek Harrison, Stephen Smyth and Charlie Campos.
