Switching off again would be a Fars says Academy forward

Banbridge Academy forward Sam Farson says his team will make sure to stay switched on at Comber Road on Wednesday afternoon.

A last gasp lapse let Wallace back into last year’s final with Sean Murray netting a late equaliser before his side went on to win on flicks.

But now Farson is confident his side won’t be made to pay the penalty this time.

“I think towards the end last year, we lacked a bit of concentration and Wallace got the goal,” he said. “I suppose they got a bit of luck to go on and win on flicks but hopefully we can make that right this time.

“We know what we have to do. We’ll be listening to everything Mr Cordner says and doing out best to execute it on the pitch.

“The lads have all been working very hard in training for this game. It’s been very intense and everybody is up for it. We just can’t wait to get going on Wednesday afternoon now.

“It would be unbelievable to do the double. It’s the best thing you can achieve in school hockey and I’m looking forward to trying to do it.”

Farson recently made the step up to the Banbridge HCb first team and impressed boss Mark Tumilty.

“I feel like it’s really bringing on my game,” said the Upper Sixth student. “I’ve been included in the squad over the last few weeks and it’s been great.

“Mark Tumilty gave me the chance and I’m just happy to have that opportunity.”

Now he must make sure he goes into his club career with one final schools medal.
