Swifts warm up with six of the best

BANBRIDGE Rangers Swifts travelled to Woodlands Park on Saturday morning to take on Gilford in a pre season warm up game.

After twenty minutes the Gers broke the deadlock through John McCahon who slotted in at the second attempt after his initial shot had rebounded off the post.

John McCahon doubled his tally just after the half hour mark after Rangers worked the ball well through midfield.

After the interval McKnight made it 3-0 with a toe poke finding the top corner after meandering past several challenges on the edge of the Gilford area.

Gilford reduced the deficit soon after with a long range effort beating keeper Stuart Cairns but Aaron Chambers renewed the advantage with a headed goal after McCahon had a shot come back off the cross bar.

Wayne McAllister moved into centre midfield after several changes in personnel and was able to capitalise on his new role by carrying the ball into the Gilford box and rifling past the keeper at the near post.

Gilford grabbed another goal against a Gers defence who were caught light at the back. McCahon then rounded off the game curling into the far top corner to seal his hattrick with only minutes left on the clock.
