Swifts on great form

On Saturday Rathfriland U10 Swifts were paired against Camlough in the GDC in Newry.

As usual Camlough proved to be tough opposition to break down, but with the Swifts in great form at the moment it wasn’t long before man of the match Shane Haughey got Rathfriland’s first goal.

The lead was soon doubled as Christopher McConville hit an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner. At the other end Ronan Burns pulled off a couple of great saves to make sure Rathfriland stayed on top. Alex McKee ran tirelessly throughout the first period putting in tackle after tackle.

Aaron Baxter and debut-boy Dan Rafferty finished the game with two goals each as Rathfriland continued to dominate the play. This was a great display of passing football from the young Swifts.

In the third period Steven McElroy hit a thunder bolt of a shot to extend Rathfriland’s lead. Shane Haughey had another great game in the Swifts’ midfield as he completed another hat-trick for the Club. Late on Shea Morgan produced a great moment of magic as he flicked the ball over the Camlough defender and had his shot saved by the Camlough keeper.
