The winners of the OutdoorNI.com Awards were determined by 1500 public votes which were sent in over the month of December through the OutdoorNI Facebook page.

With Alive Surf School receiving nearly a third of all votes, owner Ricky Martin expressed his delight. “To win the Best Family Activity Provider award for the third year in a row is such a fantastic achievement for me and my team especially when you consider the five other providers that we were up against,” he said.

This popular category created some stiff competition for Alive Surf School but they were still able to rise to the top and here Ricky explained why he thinks his business has the winning formula.

“The surf school originated from a love of surfing so to me and my team its not just about running a business but is about introducing others to the world of surfing in a fun and passionate atmosphere with the aim of getting more and more people hooked to the sport,” he added.

OutdoorNI.com’s Marketing Officer and Award Organiser, Sarah Nelson, believes the awards have grown considerably since their launch three years ago.

“This year’s awards secured the most public votes and with the competition growing stronger each year, to even be nominated let alone to have won is a fantastic achievement,” she said. “The awards are a great way to showcase the vast array of diverse and exciting outdoor activities available throughout Northern Ireland and the businesses that work hard to make them happen. A big well done is in order for everyone involved.”

As well as recognising activity providers at the top of their game, the OutdoorNI.com Awards also included seven other categories in order to highlight the best events, experiences and venues across Northern Ireland.

The sponsor of the awards, Surf Mountain founder Nick Stevenson said: “We at Surf Mountain have always prided ourselves on being from Northern Ireland. All our staff our outdoor enthusiasts and so we were delighted to have the opportunity to support local venues, events and progressive outdoor providers such as Alive Surf School. All the category winners and indeed nominees should be incredibly proud of their achievements this year.”
