Successful week for ladies

Following the disappointment of losing their first match league match last week,Dromore Ladies faced the prospect of playing their next opponents on two successive days. On both occasions Castle Park ,Newcastle provided the opposition.

The first game which was a Joyce Kavanagh Cup semi - final, took place at Musgrave Park, Belfast and at the end of normal time the teams could not be separated. A “tie-end” had to be played to achieve a result with Dromore gaining the victory by 1 shot. ( 36 -35 ).

The following day Dromore had home advantage in a league encounter and although they again out scored their opponents it was also a close encounter. The locals were most grateful to earn 4.5 points out of a maximum of 5.

JUNIORS

Dromore Juniors were away to Rathfriland on Saturday in a league game coming home with full points winning by thirty seven shots.

When the score was taken at the first half the Juniors were just two shots ahead with only A Sudlow ahead by ten, Aiken down three T Sudlow five down with Malcomson all square.

In the next quarter the game was won for the Juniors having scored thirty five only conceding six to be ahead by thirty one with all rinks ahead.A Sudlow 12 Aiken 12 Malcomson 5 T Sudlow 2

The Juniors still held the upper hand in the final six ends A Sudlow finished nine to the good Alken only conceded a single in the final eleven ends to be sixteen ahead. Malcomson nine to the good with T Sudlow winning by three in the end.

Today (Tuesday), the Seniors will be at home to Dugannon and Saturday the Juniors are at home to Lagan Valley in a league game.
