Success as Banbridge CC are in the medals at national events

Three Banbridge riders brought honour to the local club in recent national level events.

Sean Downey placed second in the National Elite Road Race Championships to take the silver medal in a high calibre field of international class riders.

Sean was ably assisted by Roger Aiken in what turned out to be the break of the day and looks to be in great form as the Commonwealth games approach.

In the Irish Paralympic Time Trial championships, which were run in conjunction with the Nationals, Diane White took the silver medal while Chris Burns won bronze in their respective classes.

Chris subsequently achieved his main goal of the season when he learnt last week that he had been selected for the time trial in the Irish Paralympic Squad for the World Cup round being held in Segovia in Spain later this month.
