Squeaky bum time as Town lose again

Banbridge Town 0

Donegal Celtic 2

THINGS are getting worse for Banbridge Town as this defeat leaves them languishing just five points off the second relegation spot in the IFA Championship.

Two first half goals sealed the points for DC who moved to the top of the table with this win.

Paul McVeigh scored a free kick on 21 minutes which was beautifully floated over David Wilton to give the visitors the lead, before former Loughgall midfielder Lucaz Adamczuk added a second six minutes from the break after he had stolen possession off the home defence.

Town rallied in the second half with Neil Clydesdale going close after bursting through the defence but he went for power instead of placing the ball and could only watch his shot go over the bar.

Simon Robb also impressed after coming on and had a couple of opportunities but couldn’t fully spark a revival.

With Coagh United winning their first game of 2010 at Carrick Rangers and Glebe Rangers’ superb form of late continuing with their win over Ballymoney United Colin Malone must be really looking over his shoulder at what’s going on just below him in the table.

They will need to bounce back on Friday night when they play Ballyclare Comrades at Dixon Park, kick off 7.45pm.

The Comrades kindly agreed to bring the game forward due to the Town’s involvement in the Bob Radcliffe Cup final on Easter Monday afternoon (3pm).

Ricky Copeland returns after serving a one game ban while Mark Teggart will miss out as he is serving the second of his two game suspension.

Matty McCartan and Marc Whitla are also doubtful due to injury and Malone is unlikely to risk either player due to the final.

Discipline will also be key for the locals as any sendings off would rule a player out for the final.
