Sproule secures Priorians victory

Priorians...1

AFTER having a bad run of results from previous two matches Priorians ladies were determined to come away with a good result at their home grounds on Saturday.

Priorians had a full squad apart from their usual goal keeper Lizzie Balentine but knew it would be a tough game with Dromore 1sts sitting a place above in the league.

From the starting whistle the home side put the pressure on Dromore with great passing between all players, keeping the majority of play in their attacking circle.

The forward lines were fighting hard but seemed to lack that finishing touch: they were awarded three penalty corners but unfortunately none resulted in a goal.

At half time the score was still at 0-0 which saw Priorians in exactly the same position as last week but the team were not going to allow the same disappointing result.

In the second half Prior kept the high standard of their game going with the forwards constantly on the move creating space for the links and defence. The defence were strong with great saves from Megan McClintock.

The fighting spirit of the home side finally paid off with a brilliant run from Camilla Lyttle on the right crossing the ball into the circle with a great finish from Emma Sproule putting the ball into the top corner of the net.

With still about 25 minutes left Prior could not become complacent, they battled to the final whistle keeping the Dromore side from scoring any goals. Player of the Match was Kathyrn Rough.

Priorians: Megan McClintock, Coral Lapsley, Olivia Doherty, Sheila Morton, Netty Wilson, Camilla Lyttle, Ally Elkin, Bronagh Doherty, Leanne Orr, Rhonda Curry, Laura McDermott, Emma Sproule, Kathyrne Rough, Charlen Lourens, Caroline Chestnut.
