Spirited display from the U14s

TOWN Juniors Under-14s faced Dungannon Colts away and produced a spirited performance but unfortunately couldn’t put the chances away toet something from the game.

The locals started brightest and their lively energetic approach took the game to the Colts but could’nt covert any of their early chances for the first goal.

After 15 minutes and against the run of play the Colts took a punt from the edge of the box, and with a generous deflection the ball found its way to the back of the net.

The Juniors tried to respond but found themselves 2-0 down on 23 minutes after a goal mouth scramble the ball nestled in the back of the net.

As Town tried to find their feet they couldn’t get a rythm going and were again caught just three minutes later with second goal mouth scramble resulting in a third goal for the Colts.

Town rang the changes to try and get something from a game that was slipping and eventually got a goal back on 29 minutes with Jake Dennsion scoring a solo effort after tireless work by Jake Laffin in the midfield.

The Juniors kicked-off the second half playing all the football again, but not for the first time they were unable to find the back of the net and conceeded a fourth 12 minutes into the half when the Dungannon striker pounced on a poor clearance to break through and finish well.

Town showed good resolve and determination shortly after and responded almost immediately from the restart with Lee Ward returning from a broken ankle to volley home an Owen Byrne cross with his first touch for 10 weeks.

The Juniors kept knocking on the door time and time again with Lee Ward heading narrowly over with a superb header, however it wasn’t to be the Juniors day as Dungannon Colts killed the game off when they broke to score number five.

Man of the match was captain Jake Laffin for coming off the bench and making a fantastic impact.
