Sperrin Flights complete treble

The Finals of the Coleraine and District Darts League Cup took place this week to bring to an end another fantastic season of darts.

The draw for the semi-finals saw Top Cup runners up Hecklers go up against League runners up Berthas and Kellys Inn take on Sperrin Flights who were on the hunt for a treble winning season having already scooped the Top Cup and League title.

Hecklers v Berthas - It was Hecklers who started brightest in this contest with Sean O’Kane (135, 132, 20 darts) taking out Ronnie Elliott (140, 100) but Berthas hit back with David Finlay (139, 112, 2x100) defeating Enda Mullan (140, 100) in the next. Berthas took the lead when Eamon Guyler (2x140, 117, 100, 16 darts) overcame Stephen McAfee (180, 140, 132, 4x100, 15 darts) in a fantastic game of darts. James McAlary (160, 140, 101, 2x100) then stepped up for Hecklers to level the game 2-2 when beating Ian Patterson (140, 115, 102, 100) but Berthas hit back with Stephen Patterson (100) defeating Danny McLaughlin (110).

Once again Hecklers came back with Nigel Mullan (122) coming from behind to take out James Glenn (123, 120, 100) and send the match to the deciding game between Seamus Mullan of Hecklers and Gary Friel of Berthas and it was the Hecklers man Seamus Mullan (123, 120, 142 finish, 15 darts) who stepped up and threw a brilliant game to send Hecklers into their second Cup Final of the year.

Kellys Inn v Sperrin Flights - Sperrin Flights started off with a 2-0 lead in this tie, Vinnie McKay (140, 3x100) pulled one back for Kellys defeating Stephen Pinkerton (132, 123, 100, 18 darts) but James Walker (4x100) dampened hopes of a comeback with a steady display to comeback from a leg down to defeat Seamus Rodgers (100).

Damian Norton (100) took out Jason McNeill (120) in the next to send the Flights into the final. Kellys managed to take the last two games with Gary McCafferty (140, 134, 3x100, 2x18 darts) defeating Barry McLaughlin (140, 2x100) and Jordan Horner (125, 2x100) taking out Gary Watton (121, 3x100) but that will serve as little consolation with Kellys looking back at what might have been.

Hecklers v Sperrin Flights - First up was Sean O’Kane against Gary Watton (139, 4x100) with Gary’s steady scoring proving the difference to put the Flights 1-0 up.
