Solid performance earns U14s the points

TOWN Juniors Under-14s travelled to Lurgan Public Park last Saturday to take on Seagoe Youth - and returned home with all three points in the bag after a solid performance.

The Juniors settled immediately from the first whistle and passed the ball fluently, pushing Seagoe back into their own half.

The locals began to create good chances and were unlucky not to see themselves go in front early on, however it was only a matter of time before they would score and this came from the boot of winger Jake Dennison on 13 minutes when he cooly chipped the keeper after a good ball through from Adam Dickson.

The home side didn’t lay down, and came flying back at the Juniors

creating decent chances of their own. The Juniors however defended well and kept strong at the back, with a few chances going begging as they went in search of a second.

Seagoe got their reward for their persistence on 20 minutes when a shot from long range found its way into the back of the net to level the scoring.

The second half began the same as the first, with the Juniors playing all the football and pressurising the Seagoe defensive line.

Town created chance after chance but were unable to find their second goal until 17 minutes into the half when Jordan Walker latched on to an uncleared ball and slotted past the keeper to put the Juniors back in front.

Seagoe had no response this time however, and the Juniors began to control the game and they made sure of the points on the 31st minute when captain Jake Laffin picked the ball up 25 yards out and unleashed a thunderous drive which rifled into the top corner to top off a wonderful performance.

This week’s man of the match was Ethan McDonald for a confident and composed display at left back.

The Under-14 players and coaching staff would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to former manager Wylie Dickson for his time, commitment and service to the team after his resignation earlier this month.
