The veteran defenders are part of the Irish women’s over-50s squad which sets off for the FIH Masters World Cup in Holland this week.

The tournament, which takes place simultaneously with the Rabobank Hockey World Cup in The Hague, will see several age groups (40 and above) battle it out at the home of HC Rotterdam - one of the biggest hockey clubs in the Netherlands.

The competition begins on Thursday (June 5) and runs until June 13.

Snoddy and Wilson are part of the 17-strong Irish panel and the full-backs have lost none of their competitive edge.

The action kicks off against what Wilson described as an unknown quantity in the United States of America on the opening day. That’s followed by a demanding five-in-row fixture list when they will be tested to the limit against Wales, the Netherlands, Australia, England and New Zealand. The play-offs are scheduled for Friday, June 13.

The local pair aren’t the only East Antrim representatives in the squad, they are joined by Ballyclare Ladies’ forward, Dee Wallace.
