Six of the best for Seconds against North Down

BANBRIDGE Ladies Seconds lined out for the first match of the new year against North Down Seconds.

Bann won the toss and immediately dominated attacking the North Down circle. Rosemary Waddell opened the scoring with a brilliant shot, burying the ball in the back of the net.

Banbridge converted their first short corner of the game, through Alannah Magee who had plenty of time to slot the ball home.

As Banbridge continued to dominate the game Helen Sawyers collected a loose ball at the top of the ‘D’, leaving the North Down keeper with no chance.

North Down looked dangerous on a couple of occasions in this half but Alanna Little pulled out some great saves and worked well with the defence to cut out any North Down threats.

Alannah Magee closed off the first half by adding her second of the game, picking up the ball on the right wing and drilling it into the back of the North Down net.

Banbridge welcomed back Jo-Anne Lyttle who was instrumental in controlling the home defence of Jill Mehaffey,, Jessica Hassan and Joanna Palnoch.

Sarah Dale showed her versatility, playing in a handful of different positions.

The second half was less eventful than the first until Helen Sawyers took off down the pitch on great solo run and made no mistake in firing the ball into the match added her second of the game,

North Down grabbed a consolation goal after a goal mouth struggle. However it was Banbridge that had the final word when Rosemary claimed her second of the match leaving the final score Banbridge 6, North Down 1.
