Sinton’s a star of the future says Bann Head Coach

Head Coach Daniel Soper was delighted with the back’s performance in the routine 50-5 victory over Dungannon in the Ulster Senior League.

“It’s really exciting for us to have a player like that coming through,” he said.

“Robin played Ulster Under 19s during the summer. He has just turned 18 and he was excellent on Saturday.

“He didn’t look out of place or too small or too young.

“In the second part of the season, he will have a part to play and after Saturday’s performance, we have every confidence that he would be up to the task.”

By half-time at Rifle Park on Saturday, Bann were well on their way to victory at 31-0 ahead.

Two tries from John Porter, one a stunning solo run from his own half set them on their way while Ethan Harbinson also touched down.

Adam Ervine bagged two tries of his own, onw a ran penalty that saw him dash past a couple of opponents.

Shandon Scott kicked three successive conversions.

After the break, Mike Bentley added the sixth try before Ethan Harbinson made a 50 metre dash to the line after a turnover at the line-out.

Andrew Morrison added the final try, seizing on a Scott grubber kick.

“It was good for the players to be involved in a game where the pressure wasn’t as much as it has been in recent weeks. They played very well and scored a few really well worked tries.”

Meanwhile, Alan Conn is unlikely to play again this season with work commitments.

FOOTBALL

Rathfriland Rangers were again frustrated in their attempts to play their Irish Cup fourth round tie at Abbey Villa. After another postponement, the game is now scheduled for 2nd January.
