Sinead wins Junior NI title in field archery championships

Just two weeks after winning in the English Field Championships, Sinead Byrne shot well to win again.

She was presented with her trophy by Lady Dunleath.

Sinead is a member of the Ballyvally Junior Development squad of 45 young archers, part of the club’s policy of bringing on the younger archers and planning for the future.

Sinead is part of the Ballyvally under 12 years squad.

Despite suffering an awkward failure of equipment just before the start of the two day competition, Sinead recovered to shoot well.

The tournament was blessed with sunshine, if a little cold and windy at times but no rain.

The archers dread as the bowstrings, arrows etc get wet and that affects the flight.

In eight weeks time Sinead will be shooting in the British Open at Greenmount College.

Ballyvally archery club will host the British Open Field Archery championships for the fifth time.

Preparations are already well advanced to greet the archers at Greenmount College.

Accommodation has been arranged and the two courses organised on paper.

Sixty-two targets will have to be transported to the courses which will cover many acres.

Entries have already been received from Scotland, England, Wales, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Ballyvally Club plans to have over 70 archers shooting in this event.
