Silver for Ben at Tullamore

After Ben’s great results at the NI and Ulster Track and Field Age Group Championships in June were he won both the 800 meters & 200 meters for 1997 boys he qualified for the Irish Age Group Championships which have been taking place in Tullamore, Kildare over July.

The best junior athletes from all over Ireland have been competing in all track and field disciplines over the past month.

On July 4 Ben travelled down to Tullamore for the 1997 800m final. Racing against 16 of the top under 14 athletes in Ireland, in a tactical race Ben finished a well deserved fifth in 2:18.29.

Then last Saturday, July 24, Ben travelled down to Tullamore again to take part in the 200m. Ben won his heat in a personal best time of 25.87 seconds then in the final Ben came second equalling his PB form the heats.
