Seniors have a good day at Curran

When the first five ends were played the scoreboard did not make good reading with the seniors down by 18 with McKenny the only rink ahead by two. SG was four down, McCandless was behind by nine and Shanks by seven.

There was a big improvement at the halfway stage with the home team ahead by three. McKenny and SG were both level with McCandless having had a good five ends, closing the gap to a single, and Shanks was two in arrears.

The game was balanced at the three quarter stage with the home team in the lead by two. McKenny was a single ahead, SG was a single down, McCandless was in front by three and Shanks was five down.

In a grandstand finish the seniors got home by seven shots - McKenny was three up, McCandless had an outstanding victory by 10, Shanks again pulled out all the stops to score a three on the last end to record a three shot victory and SG did not last the pace to finish in a nine shot defeat.

This Saturday the Seniors are at home to Whitehead B and the Juniors are away to Cloughry – both are league games at 2pm.

- There was another disappointing day for Dromore Juniors in their home game against Divis, going down by four shots getting two points.

Rink 1: J McCullough, WJ Morgan, T Gribben, A Sudlow.

Rink 2: E Walker, S Harrison, G McDowell, T Sudlow.

Rink 3: J Topping, R Elliott, A Clinghan, T Wilson.

Rink 4: J Black, R McCandless, H Maxwell, I Houston.

After the first five ends were played the juniors knew it was going to be another tough struggle as the visitors had taken a five shot advantage with T Sudlow the only rink ahead by one. T Wilson was all square, Houston was down by two and A Sudlow was in arrears of four.

A big second quarter saw the juniors gain advantage to lead by 11. T Sudlow had a purple patch to lead by eleven, Wilson was two ahead, Houston was in the black by three and A Sudlow was trailing by five.

When the three quarter stage was reached the juniors were still in a commanding position at 14 ahead with three rinks up. T Sudlow’s position was 17 up, Wilson was four and Houston was a single to the good. A Sudlow was now eight down.

In the final six ends the visitors made the home team pay for some lack lustre bowling to gain a four shot victory. T Sudlow’s rink pulled back to finish 10 ahead, T Wilson was six ahead, Houston was defeated by three and A Sudlow had a nightmare to finish in arrears of 17.
