Seconds come away with the points

BANBRIDGE Seconds travelled to Deramore to face Belfast Harlequins for the second time this season.

The first meeting of these teams saw a scoreless draw however with promotion in their sights the Bann girls where determined to come away with all three points this time.

As in the last game it was the break that was going to create the opportunity for goals. It wasn’t long before the Bann girls capitalised from the progressive and creative play. Nadene Black crossed the ball back across the D to Ashleigh Mitchell who knocked a deflection into the back of the goal.

Settling into the game Rosemary Waddell, Helen Sawyers and created space on the pitch and helped the forward line to break from the Quins defence

It was Ashleigh Mitchell again who was in the right place to catch the cross and send the ball home past the Quinn’s keeper, her second of the game giving Bann a 2-0 lead.

A confident performance by the Bann defence of Jo-Anne Lyttle, Jessica Hassan, Sarah Dale, Robyn Turkington and Joanna Palnoch ensured that Quins really didn’t get a look in for most of the game and it was a lucky touch that gave them their only goal

Jill Mehaffey was a relentless force in midfield, stopping her player in her tracks every time.
