Second half performance was a positive

Banbridge Town U13s 2

Sunnyside 4

THIS was always going to be a tough one for the Banbridge lads with Sunnyside unbeaten in the League this season.

However Banbridge fought hard and managed to hold their opponents for the first 10-15 minutes but then in the space of a few minutes Sunnyside scored three times including two long range, high shots which gave keeper Michael Jordan no chance.

In the second half it was a different story with Banbridge taking the initiative and putting the pressure on Sunnyside. They won a direct free kick about five yards outside the Sunnyside box and Stephen McCavitt's shot was too hot for the keeper to handle. Declan Loy was very quick to seize the opportunity to slip it passed the keeper.

Banbridge continued to play well with some great work on the wings by Niall Scullion and Josh Cargin feeding the ball in to Declan Loy and Tom Brown.

Against the run of play Sunnyside managed to score a fourth when an unfortunate ricochet off defender Andrew Bennington's leg crept in at the post just out of reach for keeper Michael Jordan who had a great second half performance making several good saves.

With only a few minutes to go Banbridge were awarded another free kick just outside the box and this time Stephen McCavitt saw his shot bounce off the crossbar back into the six yard box where there was a bit of a scramble for the ball with Niall Scullion eventually taking possession 12 yards out and placing his shot into the roof of the net.
