Seapatrick Reserves finish seven up against Lower Maze

For the opening 10 minutes Lower Maze were the better team, winning the majority of physical battles and having a lot of play in the Village’s half, however not many chances were created.

Maze’s hard work paid off in the 10th minute when their frontman neatly finished a one on one with Paul McGrath having no chance to give them the lead.

This goal gave the Village the kickstart they needed. Great vision by Stevie Beck picked out Scott Bradman who cut inside to unleash a left foot shot which took a slight deflection falling to Aaron Buchanan’s feet. He calmy slotted home from a yard out. This came within three minutes of the restart.

Bradman again was proving to be a livewire and the when the Lower Maze centre back took him down inside the penalty area, Pirlo McGrath stepped up and provided a calm finish from 12 yards out to put the Village in front.

Seapatrick continued to grow into the game and Bradman added to his season tally with an excellent curling effort, leaving the keeper at full stretch with no chance.

Seapatrick came out with the two goal cushion into the second half, hungry for more goals.

Stevie Beck was unlucky not to get his name on the scoresheet with a stinging volley, and Warren Buchanan hit the side netting also.

The resolute defence of Blackwood, Kerr, Martin and Myles were caught off guard on one occassion but Paul McGrath pulled off a superb stop to keep the two goal cushion.

The more that Lower Maze tired then the more trouble Bradman caused them. The man of the moment added a further two strikes to bring his tally to four for the game before player-manager Davy Dawson pinged a volley into the top corner to add further gloss to the scoreline.

Amongst the flurry of goals Lower Maze grabbed one to give a final scoreline of 7-2.

Another three points for the reserves is what was required and they will hope to continue this run of form next week against Bourneview.

This month’s Player of the Month award went to Adam Kerr who has been a rock at the back for the Village all season long.
