The first half was finely balanced with both sides creating some good chances in front of goal. The Bann back four remained calm and collected when dealing easily with any Cookstown threat and kept the game scoreless to the break

The second half turned out to be much more lively and full of talking points. Bann scored early in the half with some excellent forward play and a well executed finish by Robbie Scott. Cookstown sought to respond quickly and pushed for the equaliser.

This resulted in the game becoming more open. The midfield saw plenty of the ball, with Craig Campbell and Robin Smyrl showing some impressive stick skill. Unfortunately for Bann, Cookstown broke after a mistimed tackle and the result was a quick attack and goal by their midfielder. They scored their second goal after the umpire played the advantage to take a 2-1 lead.

This, thankfully for Bann, was not the end as they scored after Ben McConnell smoked the Cookstown midfield and defence with his electric pace to set up Scott again to score past the bewildered opposition keeper.

Panic set in with Cookstown and they immediately substituted their centre back. The game was on a knife edge and continued with end to end attacks. Alas neither team was able to gain all three points.

Bann had to settle for another point as they fight for survival in the Junior Three league.
