Sarsfield run Rith Relay

THE Rith 700km relay around Ireland came to Armagh on Saturday and Sarsfields were well represented.

Sarsfields undertook to carry the baton for one kilometre from Goodyear Social Club across Kiln Lane.

However, when the Highmoss team gathered at Goodyear they decided to take part in the full relay around the Lurgan clubs, a distance of six miles.

Being such a fit group there was no trouble finishing the relay and they even jogged the extra mile from Eire Óg back to their cars at the Goodyear.

It was certainly no bother to Stefan Green who is currently running fifteen miles in preparation for the Belfast Marathon.

The Rith run was launched in 2010 and involves a person or group running a single kilometre, with the specially designed baton. The run raises money to fund projects across Ireland that encourage and support the use of Irish as a community language.

Well done to all who took part.
