Runners still have a chance to take on the London Marathon

ANY would-be marathon runners still have a chance to apply for a place in the London event thanks to a number of guaranteed charity places available with the NSPCC.

Thousands of hopefuls have now found out if they have been successful in their bid for a place in the 2012 Virgin London Marathon, but for those who have been unsuccessful in the ballot, the NSPCC is offering a limited number of places.

And, for those who have secured a place, the charity fundraiser Paul Montgomery has urged them to consider running in support of the NSPCC.

It is hoped around 600 runners will join the NSPCC’s marathon team for the 2012 run, together raising over £1m for ChildLine, the UK’s free, 24-hour helpline for children in distress or danger.

NSPCC fundraiser Paul Montgomery said, “Don’t run your marathon alone - join our team and be part of something amazing. We’ll support you every step of the way and you’ll make a real difference for a child who needs someone to turn to.”

Runners are provided with a comprehensive support package, including a dedicated email training support service operated by professional coaches, a training day, fundraising pack and vest, dedicated cheering teams on the day and a post-race reception.
