Rugby star Ringland to present Moyle sports awards
The Awards are a celebration and recognise the achievements of the many talented sports people within the Moyle area. The event continues to grow in stature and the nominee’s included representatives from a variety of sports.
In recent years the committee decided to change from a previous trend and secure the services of a sports personality.

Hide AdA spokesperson said: “This we feel has further raised the profile of the event and will encourage sponsors to support the Awards evening. In this the 17th year of the event we are delighted to have secured the services of former Irish Rugby International Trevor Ringland.”
During his long and distinguished career Trevor made 31 international appearances for Ireland, scoring nine tries. He also represented Queen’s University; played his club rugby with Ballymena and represented Ulster on numerous occasions. He toured New Zealand with the British and Irish Lions in 1983 and his honours also include representing Ireland in the 1987 World Cup.
Since his retirement he has coached Ballymena and been a committee member of the Irish Rugby Union. Trevor is a Solicitor and a Partner in the firm of Macaulay & Ritchie, Solicitors, in Belfast.
He was Vice Chairman of Rally Ireland and is on the Northern Ireland Board of the British Council (Northern Ireland). He is a member of the British Irish Association and a Director of the Ireland Funds, Peace Players International.

Hide AdIn 2008 he and Dave Cullen accepted the ESPYS Arthur Ashe Award for Courage in Sport in recognition of the work of Peace Players International and Mediation N.I. Trevor was awarded an MBE in 2009 for his work in community relations.
