Ronnie on top in round four in league

SATURDAY saw the fourth round of the winter league at Islandderry Fishery, Dromore.

Lisburn man Ronnie McFadden took first place, fishing his own cats whisker pattern to bag four fish for 13lb8, which included a lovely trout of 6lb8.

Second place went to Gerry Teggart, Belfast with his four fish brace of 11lb6 caught on his own bloodworm and nymph patterns.

With only an ounce between the next three places, Stevie Smith sealed third place with his four fish brace for 10lb7 while young Matthew Sinnamon, Blackskull took fourth with four fish for 10lb6 leaving Marty (Chucker) McVeigh from Drumaness to take fifth place with a four fish bag weight of 10lb5.

The Hollow Springs lake is also giving anglers good sport with Dean Kirk, Ballynahinch releasing 19 trout on a cats whisker. James Taylor from Dromara released 27 trout on a bloodworm and indicator while father and son Aiden and Sean O’Hare from Newry released 58 trout between them fishing a bloodworm, catswhisker and montana on a floating line.
