THE RETURN OF THE KING

NEIL King has rejoined Banbridge Town from Loughgall - and there may be more through the door at Crystal Park before tonight (Tuesday’s) transfer deadline.

Brian Adair has moved to strengthen his squad by bringing in the defender, who was last at the club under Colin Malone’s management when they won the Bob Radcliffe Cup.

Back at the club for a second spell, ‘Kingo’ is hoping the club enjoys success this time round.

“I loved my time at Banbridge before I moved to Loughgall and always said I would be back at some stage,” he said.

“It all came about very quickly. I have been playing at Loughgall and won the Bob Radcliffe cup on Boxing Day but I had no real intentions of moving clubs in January.

“I received a phone call from Brian and after a lengthy discussion I just felt it was time to move on.

“The team has a lot of potential for success and I’m glad to be part of it.

“I’m excited to be working under Brian. I have a lot of respect and time for him and he has showed me how hungry he is to make the club successful and to bring Banbridge back to where it belongs.

“He has a great approach to training and I can’t wait to get going.

King is likely to make his debut during Saturday’s fixture with Glebe Rangers - a game which is likely to be a physical encounter.

A win for the Town would see them leapfrog their opponents but trips to the Riada Stadium are never easy.

Town, however, will be buoyed by their current run of form. They have won their last four games on the road and have been victorious in eight of their last 10 fixtures.

“The club is going really well and I’m not surprised with the players that were there before and with the players Brian has brought in,” King added.

“Banbridge will be capable of beating anybody in the league and hopefully we will get another three points on Saturday away to Glebe.”

It’s understood Adair wants to further bolster his squad ahead of the deadline and is talking to players currently playing at a higher level.

He has until 11pm tonight to complete any transfers with players with top-flight experience amongst those on his radar.
