Reserves win by the narrowest of margins

CLANN na Banna’s Premier Reserve team secured their first win of the season away to Kilcoo.

This rearranged Saturday evening fixture, on 14 April, meant that a number of regulars were unavailable but the players who lined out played brilliantly throughout.

With Tommy Fox and Mark McEvoy dominating midfield Bann were generally on top and were leading by five points to nil after 25 minutes.

Points from Liam McCrum, Conor Lenaghan, Tommy Fox, Paul McAleenan and Adam Doyle gave Bann a commanding lead but they also registered nine wides in the same period. Kilcoo got back to within a point just before the break scoring a point and a scrappy goal leaving Bann to rue their missed chances.

The second half was a more even contest with Kilcoo bolstered by half time substitutions.

Three frees from Lenaghan and two points from play by Matty Mallon kept Bann in front and sterling defending from Jimmy Burns, Sean McGarry, and the experienced Mark Loughlin and Michael Feeney allowed Banbridge to hold on for a one point win.
